Story:

You have been hired by Dirt Cheap Colonies to build a crawler that can traverse the rough terrain of their "high-quality" planets.  Your job is to build a colony crawler that can reach the destination at the lowest possible cost.

Gameplay:

Drag and drop components such as Frames, Wheels, and Pivot Motors to design a colony crawler.  When you are ready, turn on the motors and attempt to cross the terrain for each level.   What is the highest level that you can complete?

Tips when building your crawler:

  1. Frames will connect if they overlap each other
  2. Place Pivot Motor where two frames overlap
  3. Wheels can attach to anything

Features:

  • Simple drag-and-drop interface with components that automatically attach
  • Automatic save of the last design to allow for fast build/rebuild cycles
  • Manually save a unique crawler design for each level that is saved to storage
  • Procedurally generated terrain that becomes more difficult with each level
  • Advanced camera controls include side-scrolling, dragging the camera, and zooming with the mouse wheel
  • Supports touchscreen mobile devices

If you want to help out, please send screenshots or video of your most interesting crawler designs.  You can post them anywhere and send me a link.  Or you can post them on the Victris Games discord server.  Thank you!

amazing!

this is a hidden gem , needs some refining but is awsome , more levels more objectives more pieces will be awsome

This is a great, infinite replay for the hobbyist engineer! Maybe add a score at the end or stats like time to traverse over money spent, how many revolutions/rotations to go x length. Put it all in a stat screen when you complete the level. Love this game. Reminds me a little bit of a game called soda play when I was growing up.

This is a really cool an unique concept for this game! I do feel like the zoom disrupts the player too much though.

you can scroll to change zoom

Wow, Playing this game I must say Gdevelop has no boundaries :)

That is a great compliment, thanks!  I agree with you.

I tried it on mobile devices, and it worked awesome. 👌

Thanks for testing it out!  I think it is a little small, but functional.  If I had more time I might try to make it easier to use when on mobile. (Like draw the object above the finger, draw a square on where it will land, etc)

Has anyone tried my game?
What problems did you run into?
What do you wish you could do?

My kid mentioned this also, and I probably should increase the speed.  Too late for the game jam, though.  :)  Thanks for the review!

I just tested 50% faster wheels and it is much nicer, while keeping the same feel.  It almost feels more like a real 4-wheel vehicle, with spinning and bouncing around.  :)

Very nice

Thanks Jurfix!

Gdevelop veterans incoming

Heh, I don't consider myself a veteran.  I've been using GDevelop for about 1.5 years.  :)

Excited for the game, 🤗

Me too!  I love working on it, and this 10-day time-crunch is actually really helpful.  :)
